Currently, Project Director for Vote Hope, Jennifer works to strengthen and support social justice leaders to build real progressive change.
A former President of the United States Student Association, Jennifer testified before the U.S. Senate and the Commission on the Future of Higher Education and served as the primary student negotiator for the Department of Education’s negotiated rulemaking student loan committee. Jennifer earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of California San Diego (UCSD) in political science with a double minor in law and society and theatre and served as the first Asian American woman president of the Associated Students at UCSD. During her tenure, she led campaigns to expand access to higher education at the local, state, and national level and was also instrumental in improving campus safety policies by organizing anti-violence against women and girls activities. As a daughter of Korean immigrants and a first-generation college graduate, Jennifer understands the importance of the social justice movement. In 2008, Jennifer served as an Obama precinct captain, organizing local voters through trainings, phone banking, and door knocking. As a member of Asian Americans for Obama, she helped co-host numerous GOTV events and provided Obama coverage online and in ethnic media. Due to her efforts, she was elected to be a pledged delegate for Congressional District 9 in the most competitive race in California, becoming the only Korean-American delegate in California and youngest Korean-American delegate at the Democratic National Convention.
