The California Democratic Party Asian Pacific Islander Caucus and the California Young Democrats Asian Pacific Islander Caucus co-hosted a reception at The Park Ultra Lounge during the 2011 California Democratic State Convention in Sacramento honoring the members of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, the 100th Infantry Battalion, and the Military Intelligence Service of World War II for their service to the United States and to congratulate them on receiving the Congressional Gold Medal. The reception kicks off the celebration of the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.
