State Secretary Aref Aziz

Starting out as a community organizer from Alameda County’s Tri-City Area (Fremont, Newark, and Union City) in his teenage years, Aref couldn’t wait to get involved with the California Democratic Party.

As a caucus officer, former Alameda County Consumer Affairs Commissioner, former Young Democrats and College Democrats President, and former member for at least three different central committees in California, Aref always finds time to fit in political activism between his career as a digital marketing, data, and advertising technology specialist and his addiction to hiking Northern California’s trails.

In his professional career Aref has worked for Former State Senate Majority Leader Ellen M. Corbett, Former State Treasurer John Chiang, Attorney General Xavier Becerra at the California Department of Justice, and served as Deputy Campaign Manger to California’s Proposition 61 to lower drug prices in California. In his current roles Aref serves as the Database Architect for Golden State Opportunity; California’s leading anti-poverty non-profit, Communications Liaison for the California Cannabis Industry Association, and as a consultant to Democratic campaigns and Progressive causes.
